Sydney Harbour Bridge You cannot visit Australia without seeing the view from Sydney Harbour Bridge’s Pylon Lookout. Alternatively, if you’re feeling fearless, take the opportunity to climb a section of the bridge itself. Visitors are now offered the chance to climb part of the bridge at dusk.

Luckily we live in a very active community in Florida. Every year, we enjoy a specific themed celebration which is attended by the whole neighborhood, approximately two hundred people. These parties have been extremely popular in previous years and are enthusiastically anticipated by everyone. Planning for these themed evenings begins an entire year prior to the scheduled event and have become quite an a major production.

This year, our party theme is “A Night in the Tropics,” and we plan to incorporate our spacious community building with the lovely surrounding patio area as well as the Olympic-sized community swimming pool. We will put pots of hibiscus flowers strategically at the entrances and throughout the clubhouse. We plan to decorate the patio area with torches and brightly colored lanterns. Fragrant gardenias and floating candles will bob on the surface of the water in the pool.

At Salt Lake City in 2002, speed-skater Steven Bradbury won what television commentators in his native Australia called “perhaps the most incredible gold medal in Olympic history.” He was Australia’s first-ever Winter Olympics champion and, of course, the nation was celebrating. Others, however, were somewhat angry.

By his own admission, Bradbury was lucky, winning his medal after his opponents (including the favorite, America’s Apolo Anton Ohno) had crashed in a heap in front of him. When he accepted the medal, he was booed by the mostly American crowd. Boston Globe columnist Bob Ryan, echoing much of the US media, moaned that “the wrong person” had won. NBC commentators called it a farce, demanding a re-skate. Even foul play was suggested, as the umpire happened to be Australian.

The Harbin International Ice & Snow Festival has been celebrated annually since 1985, which officially starts January 5 and lasts one month. As the largest and most extraordinary of its kind in the world, this great festival is held to coincide with the Harbin Ice and Snow World Exhibition of Ice Sculptures held in the Stalin Park, the Snow Sculptures Fair in the Sun Island and the Ice Lanterns Fair held in Zhaolin Park (in central Harbin next to the Songhua River).

During the festival, many events are held, for example, fantastic fireworks display (on opening night), winter swimming, ice hockey games, football games on the snow ground, skiing races, speed skating races, ice sculpture competition, poetry jamboree, wedding ceremony and ice & snow cinematics festival. All these events have yearly attracted numerous snow enthusiasts from around the world to visit Harbin.
